Arsenal have suffered an early transfer blow in signing Oostende striker Nany’ Dimata.
The 19 year-old joined Wolfsburg after he agreed a five-year deal with the Bundesliga team this summer.
Dimata was reportedly a target of Arsenal and West Ham in previous transfer windows.
Born in the former Belgian colony of the Democratic Republic of Congo, signed permanent terms for Oostende in 2016, and went on to make 24 appearances in the Jupiler League, registering 11 goals and four assists.
“Nany is a young, versatile front man, whose potential to develop is something we have been paying great attention to for quite some time,” said Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe. “We are delighted to have now secured his services. He is quick and determined. He will definitely develop with us.”
“At Wolfsburg, I’ll be playing together with many top players, from whom I can learn a great deal,” enthused Dimata, the 2016/17 Jupiler League Players’ Young Player of the Year. “It’s a massive challenge, and one which I’m thoroughly looking forward to. I’m very thankful to VfL for giving me the opportunity to play in the Bundesliga. I intend to repay that faith on the pitch. The move from Belgian to German football is a big one for me.”
