Manchester United are still eyeing up a summer move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain despite Wenger’s previous warnings that the winger won’t be sold to a rival, according to reports.
The winger’s contract expires at the end of next season and talks to offer him a new one is yet to begin.
Arsenal are yet to initiate contract talks with the player, with the club preferring to focus on that of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
Reports are claiming the England international isn’t considering extending his contract at Arsenal even if the club were to offer him one, and top clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool have already been linked with his services.
And according to gunnersphere.com, Manchester United have joined the race to sign the winger.
Mourinho is a big fan of Chamberlain who he tried to sign when he was at Chelsea and the Portuguese believes the winger’s versatility and potential will be a good asset for his Man Utd team.
Chamberlain is yet to secure a regular spot in Arsenal’s starting xi and the player believes his development has stalled as a result.
He has started in eight of our last ten matches and has been one of our best players but there are no guarantees he will continue to play regularly.
Arsenal wouldn’t want to sell the winger to a rival but we may be forced to do so if he doesn’t extend his contract with us because we can’t afford to lose him for nothing next year.
