Kieran Gibbs is finding it difficult to secure a move away from the Emirates due to a combination of high wage demand and transfer fee.
Arsenal recently signed Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer and one of the club’s current left back is expected to move on to create space in the squad for the new arrival. It is Gibbs who is expected to leave the Emirates this summer but Arsenal’s price tag and the player’s salary demands are proving to be a stumbling block.
Watford were keen on signing the defender but dropped their interest because of Arsenal’s demands.
According to The Daily Cannon, Arsenal have placed a £15m price tag on the defender and so far, no club is willing to pay that much.
Gibbs contract expires at the end of next season and interested clubs feel he should be available for a lot less than what Arsenal are demanding.
Making the issue worse, is the player’s wage demands. The report claims Gibbs is demanding a salary package worth £80,000 weekly and interested clubs have been put off by that also.
Should Arsenal and Gibbs refuse to shift grounds, the player would have to see out the final year of his contract at the Emirates and then leave for free next summer.
Arsenal wouldn’t want it to get that bad because it will be a missed opportunity to make a profit on a player who has been at the club since he was a scholar.
