Reports making the round claims Juventus boss Max Allegri appears to have moved further up Arsenal’s managerial shortlist to replace Arsene Wenger who leaves after 22 years at Arsenal.

The Mirror’s John Cross, known for his connections with Arsenal, Enrique’s wage demands are too high, leaving less distance between the Gunners and Allegri.

The Italian is thought to be part of a five-name shortlist, which also includes ex-Juve midfielder Patrick Vieira, Manchester City assistant Mikel Arteta, Monaco Coach Leonardo Jardim and Germany’s Joachim Low.

However, the newspaper notes the Bianconeri still want to keep the 50-year-old – despite him ‘indicating his interest’ in succeeding Arsene Wenger – and could offer him a new contract.
