According to latest reports making the round in France, Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny could be joining a few Arsenal stars who have been linked with a summer exit from the Emirates Stadium.
The reports of Koscielny’s potential summer exit resurfaced sometime in April with Sport Witness via Yahoo France being the source of the claims.
Now, fresh reports according to Sport Witness via Le10 Sport have revealed that the Arsenal assistant captain’s representative have refused to shut the door completely on a potential move away from Arsenal and this has encouraged suitors for the 30 year old star.
The reports also claims that a fee in the region of 30m Euros would be considered enough by Arsenal to let the Frenchman leave – a fee which many suitors would surely baulk at given Koscielny’s age.
According to the French outlet, the Ligue 1 side, flush with cash thanks to their new owner, have targeted the Arsenal centre-back to be the ‘leader’ in their future defence, as manager Rudi Garcia tries to solve one of the biggest problems in his squad.
Contact between Marseille and the player’s representatives are said to have already taken place, with Koscielny leaving the door open regarding a potential move after the French club’s efforts to convince him their project is worth joining.
Despite these positive signs, Le10 Sport explain one obstacle stands in everyone’s way, and that is Arsène Wenger.
The French defender is very attached to his current manager, and were he to stay, remaining at the Emirates would be a priority.
However, if he were to leave, Marseille’s chances of signing Koscielny would ‘shoot up’.
