Aaron Ramsey has revealed he snubbed Manchester United in favor of a move to Arsenal in 2008.

The Welsh international who has made over 250 appearances for us since he joined from Cardiff City has revealed he could have joined rivals Man Utd had it not been the first impression he had of Arsene Wenger when he visited the Emirates.

At 17, Ramsey was regarded as the next big thing in Wales, He broke into Cardiff’s first team at a tender age and didn’t look out of place with his performances.

Due to his superb performances at Cardiff, he had the opportunity to choose between Man Utd and Arsenal, among other clubs but chose Arsenal to the surprise of many at that time.

He has now revealed it was Wenger’s warm welcome and the private jet he entered to see the boss that convinced him to choose Arsenal.

“He did a lot to try and get me to this club.

“As a 17-year-old, flying out on a private jet to his hotel (in Switzerland for Euro 2008) was surreal but I think I made the right decision.

“I just felt a bit more wanted by Arsenal and by the boss.”

Signing the midfielder ahead of the Red Devils then was delightful to many Gooners because Man Utd thought they had won the race for his services. They even announced the deal on their official website and we were all excited when the midfielder snubbed them to join us.
