The Gunners were linked with a move to sign the Brazil international but Chelsea have matched ahead of the Gunners in the race to sign the 26 year old.
In November, it was revealed that Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger inquired about the player and could move for the former AC Milan striker this month.
However, with the Blues stuggling upfront, they joined Arsenal in the race to sign the Brazilian striker and London Evening Standard now claims the striker is likely to become a Chelsea player before the end of this week.
It is claimed that the players at Stamford bridge believes the Corinthians striker will soon be plying his trade at Stamford bridge.
Gunners boss, Arsene Wenger has already ruled out the possibility of signing a striker this month claiming he would prefer to have Dani Welbeck back from injury and also stating he isn’t sure there is a better player than the English man available in the market.
The manager’s comment indicates the North London club are no longer interested in Pato, leaving Chelsea free to sign the striker who could make his Premier League debut when both clubs face each other at the Emirates next weekend.
