Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Spanish veteran Xabi Alonso has stated that he would love to move to Arsenal in the future, according to CaughtOffside.
According to the report, the Bayern Munich midfielder who is a close friend to Arsenal’s skipper Mikel Arteta said he grew up supporting the Gunners right from his homeland in Spain.
The midfielder has now revealed he still keeps in touch with Arteta and still hopes he plays alongside his friend at Arsenal someday.
“I follow him very closely because we have kept in touch forever, from when he move from Everton to Arsenal,”
Alonso told Arsenal’s official YouTube channel.
“I want to know how it works there in Arsenal, and he’s enjoying it so far.”
Alonso met Arteta in 1997 prior to the Gunner’s man move to Barcelona before both players reunited at the Merseyside although at different club.
Alonso recently signed a contract extension at Bayern Munich in December.
Alonso had a wonderful stint with Premier League giants Liverpool between 2004 and 2009 before he returned to Spain to join Real Madrid.
