Rumors linking Alexis Sanchez away from the Emirates has refused to go away and they are expected to continue until he signs a new deal.

The Chilean’s contract at Arsenal expires at the end of next season and he has refused to sign a new deal to the club despite huge efforts by the club to secure his future. Talks were initiated at the beginning of this season but was later postponed until the summer after both parties involved in negotiations failed to reach an agreement.

Despite Wenger being confident that the striker will remain at Arsenal, reports suggest the forward has decided to leave the Emirates this summer and won’t be signing a new deal. First, he was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and then to Bayern Munich and Spanish publication Don Balon via The Daily Star now claims Manchester City is the striker’s likeliest destination – perhaps due to Champions League football.

They claim the Chilean has already held talks with Guardiola via a phone call and he has now set his sight on a move to the Etihad when the transfer window opens in July.

It’s claimed that Sanchez thinks his best chance of winning a major trophy in England is at the Etihad and he now wants to line up for his former manager.

Sanchez has been one of the Premier League’s best players this season, with 23 goals and 11 assists to his name and will be a great asset to any club.

It is no surprise that he is being linked with a move away from the club considering his contractual situation but I am hoping Wenger has enough to convince him to stay with us.

He will be a big loss to us if allowed to leave and a setback in our quest of getting back to the summit of English football.
