Arsenal are set to renew it’s interest in Monaco fullback Djibril Sidibe when the summer transfer window opens, according to reports.
Sidibe has been impressive for Monaco this season and has caught the attention of top European clubs with his fine form.
Arsenal were interested in signing the defender last summer but he turned down our offer in favour of moving to Monaco.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Chelsea are said to be keeping tabs on the defender but it appears Arsenal are still interested in signing the defender.
According to L’Equipe via The Metro, Monaco are willing to sell Sidibe this summer and this have put Arsenal on Alert.
The player himself also appear open to the idea of leaving the French cub after one year and In a recent interview with RMC, he stated he would not be able to refuse a move to a big club if he is guaranteed playing time.
“The risk is going to a big club to be a replacement, to go backwards and to be loaned away – it’s complicated,” he said.
“My criteria, it’s playing time. After that, if a club I could not refuse guaranteed me time to play, I would have to think.”
“Every player wants to play against the best in the best leagues. Today, I’m lucky to play with Monaco in a good team. We’re in the Champions League, we’re scoring lots of goals and we’re still capable of winning every competition.
“I’m very happy at Monaco.”
Capable of playing as a right back and a left back, Sidibe could be a good signing for Arsenal as we aim to strengthen our defense but the question is if we can guarantee him playing time.
I think we can, Wenger is keen to sign a quality left back this summer and Sidibe doesn’t look like a bad option. His ability to also play on the opposite side of the defense will also make him a valuable asset as he’d be able to fill in if Bellerin gets injured.
