AC Milan striker M’Baye Niang has revealed Arsenal tried to sign him before he joined AC Milan.

The 21 year old created a lot of hype during the early days of his career when he was at French club Caen, he was regarded as one of France’s best talents at the time and many clubs were interested in his services.

Niang has now revealed Arsenal were among the clubs interested in him then.

In an interview with Italian Newspaper Gazetta Dello Sport(via Sports Witness), Niang revealed he had the opportunity to sign for a Premier League club after Caen accepted offers from Arsenal and Everton for his services but he chose Milan.

He said: ”I hope one day I move to the Premier League, and to play there is a dream of mine, the right football for my style of play.

“I had the opportunity to sign for Arsenal and Everton, when Caen had accepted offers from them, but I chose AC Milan.”

Nyang was allowed to join AC Milan but things didn’t go as planned at first, he struggled in his early days in the Serie A club. He has now relaunched his career under the supervision of new Milan coach Vincenzo Montella and is now an important member of the squad.

It is not surprising that Arsenal attempted to sign him when he was at Caen. Wenger has a good scouting network in the French league and the boss has been able to lure a large number of French players to the Emirates.
