Manchester United have jumped ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe, according to reports.
Mbappe is gradually becoming one of football’s most sought after talents, following his superb performances for Monaco this term.
The 18 year old who broke into Monaco’s first team last season is having a wonderful season at the principality club with 19 goals and 11 assists to his name already.
Several big clubs including Arsenal are keeping tabs on the striker in view to making a summer move but Manchester United appear not to be wasting anytime at all.
According to The Sun via Football-Talk, the Old Trafford giants have become the first club to make a bid for Mbappe, after coming up with a £69m bid for the youngster.
However Monaco weren’t moved by the bid as they are determined to keep hold of their prize asset.
In a bid to ward off future interest, they have now placed a staggering £129m bid on the striker.
That’s a ridiculous fee to pay for an 18 year old and even the free-spending clubs like Madrid and Man City will find it difficult to spend that much on the striker.
Apparently, this means there is no hope of Arsenal signing Mbappe this summer, unless Monaco reduce their demands.
Some Gooners had taken to the social media to call on Wenger to sign the young striker after his impressive performance against Manchester City a fortnight ago but their demands are now likely to fall on deaf ears.
