Arsenal are being linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
Reports in Turkey are claiming Wenger has turned his attention to the playmaker as he plans to add more creativity to our squad.
Wenger is keen on strengthening the team this summer as he plans to mount a serious title challenge next season. The French boss failed to lead Arsenal to the Champions League competition for the first time since he arrived at the club in 1996 and he wants to avoid a repeat of such scenario next season.
According to a report in Turkishfootball.com, Arsenal are keen on signing the Bundeliga midifelder.
The midfielder had been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea but it is believed Wenger is desperate to hijack the move.
The report suggests the playmaker could be available for around €20m, despite a release clause of €32.5m in his contract. Bayer are prepared to sell and that is the reason they are prepared to negotiate a lesser fee for the player.
Although €20m will not be a problem for Arsenal, I don’t think Arsenal’s priority should be a player like Calhanoglu. The midfielder has same style of play like Mesut Ozil, so his arrival wouldn’t really make an impact in our starting xi, unless the German is leaving the club.
Wenger should concentrate more on signing a quality winger as that’s the position we lack quality options.
