Arsenal legend Robert Pires thinks that Thomas Lemar is not worth the transfer fee Monaco are demanding for him.
The French international looked set to move to north London during the summer transfer window, yet Monaco held firm and even rejected a £90million offer from the Gunners on transfer deadline day.
With the French club’s vice-president, Vadim Vasilyev, stating earlier this month that Lemar could leave in the summer and he also said that selling the 21-year-old in January transfer window is not in their plans.
While Wenger is still keen on bringing Lemar to the Emirates Stadium, the former Arsenal winger believes the player won’t be arriving at the club once the transfer window reopens in January.
Pires said in the interview with the Bwin: “I don’t know if Arsenal will sign Lemar when January transfer window re-opens.”
“Arsene tried to sign Lemar, and tried it very hard, but I don’t think that the move will happen now.
“I don’t think he’s worth £90m, because it’s too much for him. The market is crazy. What would Zidane and Ronaldinho be worth now!
Thomas Lemar has played in 101 games so far, scored 19 goals and collected 25 assists for the club. He won the Ligue 1 title with Monaco.
