Turkish giants Fenerbahce have rekindled their interest in Arsenal goalie David Ospina, according to Gunnersphere.com.

The Colombia goalkeeper is acting as back up to Petr Cech, although he is yet to feature in a league for Arsenal this season, he has done a good job as Cech’s deputy.

However, he has started all of Arsenal’s Champions League game this season and is set to start in goal when we face Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 games in February.

Despite the shared duties between Cech and Ospina, the Colombian wants to play more and is expected to hold talks with Wenger over his future at the end of the season.

Several clubs were interested in his services last summer but he opted to stay and fight Cech for a place in Wenger’s starting xi, which he has done admirably.

However, he still hasn’t closed the door to a future move away from the Emirates and Fenerbahce are reportedly interested in signing the goalie.

The Turkish club tried to sign the Colombian in the summer and still maintain a strong interest in his services. However, they will have to wait until the summer transfer window as there is no way Wenger will allow the goalie leave this month.

There is no doubt in my mind that Ospina would be playing regularly in most clubs, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he yearns for more than Champions League football next season.

However if it were up to me, i’d prefer him to remain with us beyond the current campaign because every top side require a back up goalie of top quality and that is what Ospina has offered us over the years but it’s the player’s career and he may want to make a different decision for himself.

Whatever decision the player and Wenger take at the end of the season, we can only hope it’s the best decision for everyone and the club.
