Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has reportedly sign a new contract with the Gunners that would see the defender remain at the Emirates till 2019; thereby ending every speculation linking the left back with a return to Spain.
Monreal has established himself as the first choice left back for the Gunners after initially struggling to adapt to the pace of the premiership when he newly arrived. But he has now confined England left back Kieran GIbbs to the bench this season and he is now fully adapted to the physical demands in the English game.
Monreal joined the Gunners from Spanish side Malaga in 2013 and has gone on to make over 110 appearances for the Wenger tutored side.
He was previously linked with a move to Atletico Bilbao in the summer transfer window but with this new deal; it is clear that Monreal would stay at the Emirates for the foreseeable future.
Wenger was said to be tracking Ben Chilwell; a left back who’s currently playing for Leicester City as a replacement for the injury prone Gibbs.
Wenger would be pretty satisfied to have tied down the experienced defender as they seek a first Premier league crown since 2004.
