According to reports from the Daily Mail, Arsenal will sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this month because of head of recruitment Sven Mislintat.
That’s according to former FA executive and Sky Sports pundit Adrian Bevington.
The German arrived at the Gunners in November after leaving his position as chief scout at Borussia Dortmund.
And he was spotted in Germany last week alongside other Arsenal officials to begin negotiations over a deal for the Gabon international.
Talks are ongoing and while the two parties still disagree in their valuation of the player, the signing is expected to be completed before next week’s transfer deadline.
And Bevington is convinced it will happen because of Mislintat’s relationship with those in charge at Dortmund.
Wenger was typically coy when asked for an update on the club’s pursuit of Aubameyang on Tuesday [23 January] but did play down talk of Olivier Giroud being included in part of the deal. “The negotiations are not as far as that, the Gunners boss said.
“You never know how close you are. At the moment it’s one of the possible movements, but we have other things in mind as well. We have plenty of opportunities in different positions. The final decision is not made.”
