Report claims Arsenal’s senior players will be given the opportunity to speak with club chiefs on Thursday to discuss who should replace Arsene Wenger, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger ended his 22-year reign at the north London club at the end of the season and the search is already underway to find a successor.
The Gunners had been linked with experienced managers like Juventus’ Max Allegri and former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, but it is former Arsenal player Mikel Arteta who is the leading candidate.
And now Sky Sports report that Arsenal executives will sit down and hold face-to-face talks with the Spaniard on Thursday.
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis, head of football relations Raul Sanllehi and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat will all meet with Arteta – though he is not the only person scheduled for talks.
On Arteta’s potential move to Arsenal, Pep Guardiola said: ‘If he stays I will be happiest guy in the world. If he decides to move because he has this offer, this option, I will not say you can’t go.’
Some reports have claimed that Arteta is already planning his backroom team and wants Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla – who he played alongside for three seasons – to be one of at least three new staff members.
