Tottenham and Arsenal are set to go head-to-head in the race to sign Monaco playmaker Thomas Lemar, according to reports.
Lemar played an integral part in Monaco’s march to the French Ligue 1 title for the first time in 20 years and his superb form has caught the attention of top Premier league clubs.
Arsenal scouts watched the midfielder on several occasions during the season and now reports in France claim we are set to step up our pursuit with an official bid.
However, Arsenal will not have it easy in its attempt to sign the playmaker as L’Equipe via Sports Witness claim Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the winger.
At 21, Lemar, has shown he has enough potential to play at the top level and it’s not actually surprising that he’s being linked with a move to the Premier League.
His ability to play anywhere behind the centre forward will also make him a great asset to any squad, including ours.
Tottenham’s interest in the forward would now make a deal a bit difficult for us to complete but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem as our long standing French connection can help us get the deal through.
However, the lure of Champions League football could see fortunes swing the other way sadly.
