Arsenal have joined Liverpool in the race to sign FC Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn, according to reports in Germany.
Arsenal have been monitoring the German goalkeeper for quite sometime and they could now make a move to sign the goalkeeper when the summer transfer window opens.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with Horn as they look for a quality goalkeeper to compete with Simon Mignolet.
But according to the Metro, Liverpool are set to face strong competition from Arsenal and Manchester United in their attempts to sign the 22 year old goalkeeper.
With David Ospina no longer interested in playing back up to Petr Cech and is pushing for a summer exit from the Emirates, Arsenal are on the look out for a new goalkeeper.
Arsenal’s Wozciech Szczesny is currently on loan at AS Roma and he is reportedly not willing to return to the club due to the presence of Petr Cech. Wenger has now identified Horn as a potential summer target should he be in need of a second choice goalie next summer.
Horn has received plenty of plaudits for his performances in Germany and it remains to be seen if the 22 year old will be interested in taking a place on the Gunner’s bench, However, the Germany under 21 international has talked up the possibility of playing for Arsenal as he reveals the Gunners are one of his dream club.
“I don’t want to actually leave FC Koln. But everyone has dream teams.
“Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United – if such a club should approach, I would definitely consider it,” says Horn.
The Goalkeeper’s contract at Koln expires in 2019 with a release clause of €9m in his current deal.
