Deportivo La Coruna are awaiting a response from Arsenal after lodging a £9million bid for Lucas Perez, according to reports.

Lucas Perez has struggled to make his mark at Arsenal since joining from Deportivo La Coruna last summer for £17m.

The winger started just nine games in all competitions last term and has been tipped to leave the Gunners this summer.

The 28-year-old caused a stir this week after claiming he felt ‘cheated’ about being stripped of his No 9 shirt by the club.

And his departure from north London could be imminent with website IBTimesUK claiming Deportivo have made a £9m bid to bring him back to the club.

The report says the La Liga side have registered the offer and are awaiting a response from Arsenal.

Turkish side Fenerbahce are also said to be showing interest but Deportivo are reportedly pushing hardest for his signature.

Perez reportedly met with Arsenal chief Dick Law to express his desire to leave the club.

And Deportivo are hopeful this will force the Gunners into selling and accepting an £8m loss on the player.

Speaking this week about his future, Perez said:

“I want to leave to play and be happy.

“Last year I barely had any opportunities and when I had them I took advantage of them and this season is clearly going to be more of the same.

“I want to fight to go to the national team. I want to play football, but for that I have to leave.

“I think that the best place for me is at home, with Depor. They [Arsenal] are not behaving well with me.

“The thing of taking the shirt number without telling me to give it to a companion [Alexandre Lacazette], it seems to me the last straw.

“I can not continue this way. I have given everything, but that has not been reciprocated, so I can’t stand it any longer. I feel cheated.

“In February I was not allowed to leave for China with the promise that I would play more and after that I had even fewer opportunities.”
