Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud wants to start against Southampton this weekend, according to the Daily Mail.
The striker who has played just 12 minutes for Arsenal this season says he is ready for his first start of the season.
The striker featured from the start for France in the last international break and believes he is back to full fitness.
Giroud said: ‘It is down to a lack of training since I got back from holiday.
‘It if had been a priority, the manager would have asked me to come back sooner. That wasn’t the case. Don’t worry, everything is fine. I’m used to people doubting me. Since the start of my career, it has been the same.
‘Maybe I need that so I don’t get too comfortable but between last season and the Euros, I’ve got no reason to doubt myself.’
Arsenal have played its first three games of the season without a recognized striker in its starting eleven. Wenger had only Giroud as the striker in his squad but the French man was not match fit.
The club have now signed Lucas Perez who would provide competition for the French striker and they are both in line to start against Southampton this weekend.
