Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed he needed to change his approach in order to impress at Arsenal.
The winger had been criticized for failing to live up to expectation since he joined the club in 2011. Last season was one of his worse season in an Arsenal shirt as he struggled with injuries and poor form.
The midfielder was subsequently linked with a move away from the Emirates but he decided to stay.
He was made known that this season is his last chance to impress and he has now revealed he had to change his attitude. The winger knows he has come off age and needs to start performing for the club on a regular basis.
“I turned 23 the other day and I know I need to push on,” Oxlade- Chamberlain told Arsenal.com .
“That’s what I’m going to be looking to do. My mindset now is just to go for everything.
“I’ve always had that but now, in myself, I know what I want to do and what I have to do.
“I’m more clinical about how to go about that, both mentally and also when I get the opportunities. You almost have to be like a killer in your approach.
“As I’ve grown up and matured, I think that now I’m in a place in my mind where I know what I need to do and I either do it or I don’t. It’s as simple as that.
“I’m just focused on making sure I do it.”
The England international has already scored two goals in five starts for Arsenal this season across all competitions.
He is keen to continue his decent run of form as his long term future at the club is dependent on his performance this season.
