Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal have been confirmed to be monitoring Paços de Ferreira youngster Diogo Jota. The 19-year-old has been one of the talking points of the Portuguese Liga due to his impressive showings this term.
The news of Arsenal’s interest in the rising star was confirmed by London24 who revealed that the Gunners were keeping tracks on the player and scouted the player on Monday in his side’s 2-1 win over Vitoria Setubal. Arsenal are keen on the player who can play either centrally in the number ten role or out wide due to his versatility haven been struck severely by injury this season.
Prompt action must be made by Wenger to land the player. As expected of any emerging talent in Portugal, Benifica have already contacted Paços in a bid to sign the player.
“It is public knowledge that the business is well underway, but there are still some details to be finalized,” Jota’s lawyer said at the weekend.
“Right now I just want to think about the matches and then come back to talk about Diogo Jota process or from other players, but I can assure that we will always defend the interests of the club.”
