Arsenal have received a significant boost in the race to sign Barcelona’s Arda Turan, according to reports in Spain.
Turan has failed to make an impact at the Camp Nou since completing a move from Atletico in 2015 and he is now being linked with a move to the Emirates.
Reports claim Barcelona are prepared to sell the playmaker who has a lot of admirers in the Premier League.
In the past month, Arsenal have reportedly held talks with the player’s agent over a possible summer switch and if true, recent reports will provide us with a huge boost in the race to sign the playmaker.
According to The Sun, Barcelona’s new manager Ernesto Valverde has placed Turan on the transfer list as he prepares to build his own squad.
However, it is claimed the Spanish giants have placed a £35m price tag on the Turkish international, a fee we would expect Wenger not to be ready to pay.
However, there are suggestions that Wenger is desperate to sign the attacking midfielder just as Barca are desperate to sell him, and the two parties will reach an agreement in the coming days.
Wenger wants Turan to replace long term injured playmaker Santi Cazorla – a feat which the Barca star will do perfectly.
In my own opinion, Turan is already 30 and his stock in the last two years has dropped drastically and there is no way he’s currently worth that much.
Arsenal would get better value in younger and more talented playmakers than in Turan who isn’t the player he used to be anymore.
Gooners what do you think? Should Wenger splash that much to sign 30year old Turan or should the club look for other younger talented stars to sign instead?
