Arsenal vice captain and former Germany World Cup winning International Per Mertesacker today has taking over many popular social media outlet as he celebrates his 30th birthday.
The former Werder Bremen and Hannover star who joined Arsenal in the summer of 2011 when the Gooner’s were suffering a great deal of trouble in defence has gone on to stabilize Arsene Wenger’s side since his arrival at the club and was regarded and one of the gaffer’s best signing of the subsequent season albeit a shaky start to life on the pitch upon his arrival at the Emirates.
Per was also Arsenal’s most featured player last term, making over 43 appearances for the Gooners. He was rewarded by Arsene Wenger this new season and was given the position of Assistant captain being deputy to Mikel Arteta; following his return from a successful World Cup outing with his national team side Germany.
