Fenerbahce are lining up a move for Joel Campbell, according to reports.
This is according Turkish publication Futbolarena.com [via Gunnershere], which claims Fenerbahce have made signing Campbell their priority.
The Costa Rican who came into limelight after his performances in the 2014 World Cup, was one of Arsenal’s most promising footballers but his career seem to have stalled in the last couple of seasons.
He spent last season on loan at Sporting CP but had an underwhelming campaign at the Portuguese club. He seems not to have a future at the Emirates anymore and Fenerbahce are now looking to make a move for him.
The report failed to mention if Fenerbahce are interested in a permanent deal or a temporary one but it did mention that the Turks will look to begin negotiations over signing the winger in the coming weeks.
With Wenger keen on strengthening the attacking midfield position this summer, there would be no space for Campbell next season.
A permanent move away from the Emirates could just be what Campbell needs at the moment. At 25, stability should be his priority, having spent majority of his Arsenal career out on loan.
He played just 29 times for Sporting last season, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
