Arsenal seem to be very interested in Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe has been in fine form this season, helping his team to the top of the French Ligue One table and also the Quarterfinals of the Uefa Champions League competition.
The young striker has scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists this term, in the process becoming the youngest player to score over 10 French league goals, a record which had stood for over 30 years.
Wenger has never hidden his admiration for the young man, even going as far as saying we’ll make a move for his services should Monaco be willing to do business.
According to a report in The Mirror, top Gunner scout Gilles Grimandi was present at Monaco’s game against Manchester City on Wednesday to watch Mbappe.
The decision to watch the striker means we hold a concrete interest in his services but we may not get the chance to sign him anytime soon some because Monaco are not willing to sell their prize asset this summer.
Speaking to RTL as quoted by gunnersphere.com, Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyey revealed that their intention is to keep the striker.
‘Our intention is to keep Kylian Mbappe. He is a product of our youth academy. He is our DNA. I am very proud.
‘We have a real team. The first half [against City] was excellent – the sort of performance that the very top teams make.’
Arsenal tried to sign him last summer but Monaco were unwilling to sell the striker. Vasilyey comments now mean we’ll have to wait a little longer to get the striker as it won’t be happening this summer either
