Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Swedish starlet Alexander Isak.

Isak is a 17 year old striker who currently plies his trade for AIK Solna in Sweden and has impressed for his club despite his tender age, to the extent he is already drawing comparisons to Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Scouts from top European clubs including Arsenal have watched the striker in action in recent weeks and were reportedly impressed by his talent.

According to Transfer Market Web via the Daily Star, Arsenal have now made signing the young striker a priority in the January transfer window.

The report claims Wenger sees Isak as a great signing for the future and is keen to add him to our academy set-up.

The striker’s contract at his club expires in 2018 and there is every possibility that he would want a move to a bigger club soon.

Isak despite just being 17 years old is already a key member of AIK Solna’s first team and has scored 11 goals in 25 appearances for his club across all competitions.

However, he wouldn’t be a member of our first team if he joins us now and I think it will be difficult to convince him to forfeit his first team football to join our academy.

Looking at the report, it appears we are serious about signing the lad and maybe we can find a way to convince him to join us.

Arsenal have a good track record of signing players at a tender age and nurturing them to become great players, that could just play a big part in the youngster’s decision.
