Torino striker Andrea Belotti is attracting interest from a host of clubs including three Premier League clubs, according to reports.
The Italian striker has been Torino’s best player this term, netting 26 league goals in 35 games
During the season, he was being scouted by almost every football club, which pushed Torino into offering him a new contract. He then penned a new long-term deal which has an £86m release clause for foreign clubs.
And that is proving to be a stumbling block for English clubs interested in the forward. Torino are insisting the striker’s clause must be activated but Chelsea and Manchester United are only prepared to pay up to £60m while Arsenal aren’t willing to go beyond the £52m mark.
The trio of clubs will have to convince Torino into parting with its best player for a lot less than his clause, meaning it would be a difficult deal to pull off.
Arsenal are looking to strengthen its attack this summer and Belotti who is regarded as one of football’s brightest talents features highly on our wish list. We were even rumored to have made a January bid for the striker, although there was no truth in that, I wouldn’t be surprised if we make one this smmer.
The question now is whether we’ll be able to make a lucrative offer which will tempt Torino into selling the striker? With a £100m transfer kitty reportedly available to Wenger, I doubt if we will be able to sign players like Belotti.
