Juventus are eyeing up Wojciech Szczesny as a replacement for Gianlugi Buffon, according to reports.
The Italian giants are already in search of a successor to one of football’s greatest goalkeeper, who is drawing closer to the end of his carrer.
Buffon has revealed that he will retire from football after the 2018 world cup and The Sun via Tribal Football claims Juventus are in talks with Szczesny to replace him.
The report claims Juventus have entered into a ‘special pre-contract” talk with the Poland international and an agreement will see him move to Turin at the end of the coming season.
Another contract rebel, Szczesny has one year left in his Arsenal contract, meaning he would have to run down his contract if he is to join Juve for free.
Arsenal are unlikely to let that happen and we will try to sell the goalkeeper this summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal with us.
Looking at this critically, this report doesn’t make much sense because the rules don’t allow Juventus to enter into pre-contract talks with the goalkeeper until he is into the final six months of his contract.
This isn’t to rule out the possibility of a contact between the Italian club and the player but just to stress that if there is contact already, it is most likely about a possible summer move.
