If the rumors are true it looks like Arsenal star player Alexis Sanchez is nearing the exit door. It is believed that his agent is now in talks with a several clubs with Man City and Bayern Munich the front-runners for the forward from Chile.
Sanchez knows a number of the players Manchester City and they believe they have done enough to tempt him to join them at the Etihad Stadium. The Blues top two transfer targets this summer are Sanchez and Kyle Walker from Tottenham Hotspur. They believe that they can secure a deal for both players for a combined total of 100 million pounds.
At twenty-eight years old Sanchez is in his prime and the Gunners will not want to lose their star player. He has been outstanding again this campaign netting 30 goals and without him, they would not have finished in the top half of the EPL. He is almost impossible to replace, especially now that Arsenal did not qualify for the Champions League.
Sanchez has stated that his preferred option is to stay in the EPL due to his family been settled here. That increases the chances of Man City winning the race for his signature but I think Chelsea is also wanting the forward to join them.
The Gunners do not want to sell to an EPL team and their preferred option, if they are forced to sell, is Bayern Munich. Wenger is already not popular with a large percentage of the Gunners fans and selling the best player is not going to help him. It would be especially bad if they sold to one of their rivals given the current revolt by fans against the owner and manager.
It is believed that both clubs are willing to pay around fifty million to secure his signature along with an annual salary of up to eleven million pounds. This greatly eclipses his current Gunners contract and if they are going to get the player to stay they will need to offer much more to keep him at the Emirates.
Sanchez performances have been the highlight of a difficult year for the Gunners. The forward has managed to score a total of 24 goals in 38 EPL matches this season along with providing 10 assists.
With Sanchez only having a single year left on his current deal, it would be crazy for them not to cash in if they can not convince the player to stick around for one more season. Fifty million pounds will go a long way towards finding a replacement but it is going to be an extremely difficult job finding the right players.
