Arsenal have tabled a £50m bid for Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez, according to reports.
Wenger is determined to land a marquee signing this summer and had set his sights on Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe. However, with the French star proving increasingly difficult to sign, Wenger is now exploring other targets.
According to The Mirror, Wenger has turned his attention to Rodriguez.
The Colombia international is keen on leaving the Bernabeu this summer and Arsenal have joined Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign him.
The report claims the playmaker is valued at around £50m and Wenger has now made a huge bid to bring him to the Emirates.
James made 22 league appearances for Madrid last term, starting just 13 of those games and he managed to score eight goals as well as providing six assists.
He appears to have fallen out with Zinedine Zidane and was entirely left out of the squad that defeated Juventus in the Champions League final.
Rodriguez would be a great signing for Arsenal especially as it is looking likely Sanchez will leave this summer.
Should our bid be accepted, we’ll now find a way to convince the striker to snub the interest from our rivals to sign for us. I hope we are able to do that.
