Arsene Wenger believes Alexis Sanchez can be the world class striker Arsenal fans have been clamoring for all these years.
Sanchez has been used primarily as a striker this season and the Chilean has impressed in the position. At the beginning of the season when Wenger revealed he will deploy the Chilean as a centre forward, some fans raised eyebrows about the decision but the player’s form so far has vindicated that move.
The boss was criticized in the past for his inability to sign a world class striker but he appears to have uncovered one after making the decision to play Sanchez as a striker.
“I think he likes the position,” Wenger said.
“When it comes off and he walks off with the ball under his arm it’s a good feeling and I hope there is more to come.
“The leading strikers in world football at the moment are South American.
“He has all the ingredients to be a top-class striker and he showed that again. He’s quick, he can dribble, and he has the killer instinct.”
Like Wenger rightly said, Sanchez has shown he possesses the qualities needed to become a top striker and should he lead us to the Premier League title, then he must be considered as one.
It’s been a long time Arsenal had a striker in the race to win the golden boot and this is a good sign that a lot has changed at the Emirates this season.
