Arsene Wenger has revealed he will be proud if his successor wins more titles than him at Arsenal.
Wenger’s whose contract expires at the end of the season has revealed he will be happy should his replacement be successful at the club.
The French man has won a total of 15 trophies in the 20 years he has spent with us. Majority of the 15 titles were won in the early years of his Arsenal career and has faced heavy criticism in recent years for the relative lack of major trophies at the Emirates in the last decade.
Although the French man has always stated he wants his legacy to be the players he has developed into world class not the titles he won, he has now revealed it will be great joy if his successor more successful on the pitch.
Speaking in an interview with former Arsenal striker Ian Wright, Wenger said: “It will be my pride to see somebody come in and do better.
“Or at least he’s in a position to do better!
“It’s important, the legacy, because for me a club is as well about identity, and values.
“The values here are carried by the manager because I stay here for a long time, and I hope that these values – that are respected around the world – will continue because it’s based on respect, humility, togetherness and moving forward.”
The manager’s comments just goes on to show that he has become a part and parcel of the club, no wonder he is fondly called “Mr Arsenal” by some fans.
Arsenal fans will be happy with the boss’ comments and this will further endear him to the hearts of many Gooners. He will now focus on adding to his trophy collection this season when we play Swansea next weekend as we have reportedly targeted the Premier League .
