Arsene Wenger as always has moved to play down talks of a deal agreed for Juventus star Arturo Vidal.
Wenger who is widely known for keeping his transfer dealings discreet, faced the media today ahead of the Gunner’s weekend clash against West Brom and answered a few questions concerning players influencing their compatriots in transfer negotiations.
When asked on certain players attracting players of same nationality, Wenger said:
“No, most of the time it is the players who want to join you who come in. Sometimes they might call each other but we do not get the players to interfere with that.”
It was earlier reported by Calciomercatoweb that Arsenal have agreed terms to sign Juventus midfielder Vidal after the Gunners were alerted to his availability earlier this week after a reported offer from Liverpool had gone in for the midfielder.
CMW also claimed that Wenger has gone as far as taken advantage of the fact that the Chilean midfielder shares the same agent as Alexis Sanchez, with the hopes of convincing the Juventus midfielder to make the switch to Arsenal instead.
