Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal have joined other European heavyweights in the race to sign German teenage prospect Leroy Sane.
The youngster has attracted a lot of interest with his individual brilliance for Schalke 04 this season having already registered five goals and as many assist in the first half of the season. The midfielder who is frequently talked about as the next big thing of German football is currently interesting several European giants.
While Goal understands Man City’s interest in the player is concrete, The Mirror claims La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have joined Manchester City in the race.
The Gunners seem to be unmoved by the demand for the prospect and have registered an interest of their own. Spanish newspaper Marca via the Express are claiming Arsenal have now entered the race for the youngster who Schalke are desperate to hang on to. The German side have thus slapped a £40million price tag on the player to discourage all interested parties.
Arsene Wenger’s side has been plagued by injuries this season and are keen on new players to strengthen their squad as there is growing belief that this season yet presents the best opportunity for them to reclaim the Premier League title after an 11 year drought.
If Wenger were to lodge a bid that meets Schalke’s valuation, he would still have to convince the player to make a move to the Emirates. However, the gaffer’s excellent record of turning youngsters with potential into superstars should stand him in good stead for a potential deal.
