Arsene Wenger feels Aaron Ramsey has many of the qualities required to become Arsenal’s next capskipper tain.

Current captain Per Mertesacker has already revealed his intention to leave at the end of the campaign, while his deputy Laurent Koscielny turned 32 earlier this month.

The Englishman, who signed for Arsenal as a youngster back in 2009, has a stock of experience behind him and captained Wales earlier in his career.

Wenger announced earlier this week that he is eager to ensure the all-action midfielder sings a new improved contract with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2019 and the Frenchman believes he could succeed Mertesacker.

“Why not? It is all there.

“He has the maturity, has improved technically and is more conscious of the importance of his technical qualities.

“His game is clean. He has a huge physical power. The target for him will be to have 30 games.” – the Arsenal head coach claimed when asked if he could see Ramsey as club skipper.
