Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal boss Wenger is still very interested in Southampton’s midfield enforcer Vincent Wanyama, according to reports.
The Gunners have been linked with a move to sign the Kenyan international since December last year with reports even claiming the 24 year old was Wenger’s top priority for the January transfer window. Wenger fueled those speculations when he revealed he rates Wanyama as a player but was coy on a move for the player.
‘I rate the player, but we are not on the case,’
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman subsequently dismissed the reports claiming there is no possibility that the defensive midfielder will leave the St mary’s this month.
According to the Metro via the Telegraph, Elneny’s inexperience in the Premier league is the reason Wenger still wants Wanyama.
Should Arsenal fail to sign him this month, they could return for the Southampton player next summer.
Wanyama has made over 73 appearances for Southampton since joining the club in 2013.
