Arsenal have plans to open talks with Jack Wilshere over a contract extension next summer, according to reports.
Wilshere left Arsenal for AFC Bournemouth on a season long loan in August and he will be entering into the last year of his contract when he returns to the Emirates at the end of the season.
Arsenal have now put plans in place to extend the player’s contract immediately he returns at the end of the season in a bid to secure his long-term future.
According to Express sport, talks between the midfielder and Arsenal will take place once his loan spell at Bournemouth ends. Wenger had previously revealed that talks with the player will commence around January but the boss is now prepared to wait until next summer in order to allow the midfielder focus on his spell at Bournemouth.
In recent weeks, Wilshere has been vocal about his long-term future at Arsenal and it is understood that the midfielder is keeping his options open.
In September, he publicly claimed he wasn’t thinking about a new deal at Arsenal but recently retracted that statement by claiming he wants to do well at Bournemouth so he can earn a new deal at the Emirates.
It is believed that Arsenal’s priority is to secure the player’s long-term future and plans are already on ground to do that next summer.
Wilshere has become a key player in Eddie Howe’s side already and helped them stage a dramatic comeback against Liverpool.
