Arsene Wenger has dropped a huge hint that he will not be active in the winter transfer window.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference for our penultimate league game of 2016 which is against West Brom, Wenger dropped a big hint that there will be no signings in the new year.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of top players in recent weeks but Wenger has dismissed those reports by claiming he has enough quality and options to see us through the entire campaign.
The boss is set to welcome Danny Welbeck, Per Mertesacker, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla back from injuries between now and the end of January, meaning he will have more options available to him for the second half of the campaign.
Wenger said: “We have plenty of options offensively. Defensively we are not in the need at the moment.”
This won’t go down well with many fans who want to see Wenger bring in new players next month after back to back defeats left us nine points behind Chelsea in the title race. Some supporters are of the opinion that the squad is not strong enough to challenge for the league title, hence the need for new signings.
However, I reckon players like Danny Welbeck and Per Mertesacker who haven’t featured for us this season will be like new signings for us going into the second half of the season and will strengthen our squad. So I don’t see any need dipping into the club’s purse to sign new players in January.
I’m with Arsene on this!
