Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho set for new deal at current club.

Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho claim he would be allowed to leave club to make dream Arsenal move

‘If wishes were horses beggars will ride’. The summer isn’t here yet and players have started dreaming and indicating where they would like to play next season.

Reports coming out of Portugal per Arsenal Station, claim William Carvalho hopes his dream move to Arsenal goes through this summer.

Carvalho was billed to join the Gunners last summer but the move fell through when Arsenal failed to match Sporting’s demand for the 23-year-old midfielder.

In a recent interview with popular Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, the 6’ 1” defensive midfielder claim that he would be allowed to leave the club this summer. And it is almost certain that it’ll be for far less than his €45 million buyout clause.

It will be left to see if Wenger will eventually sanction the move for him when the summer transfer window kicks open. As the rise to prominence of Francis Coquelin in the defensive midfield position has seen the need for reinforcement in that area gradually diminish – an addition which was strongly demanded for by many Arsenal fans last summer.

However, some section of Arsenal fans still feel there’s need for competition in the defensive midfield position at Arsenal, as it would eliminate any form of complacency and bring out the best in anyone occupying that role going into the next campaign.
