German and Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze has been linked with a move to the English Premier League according to new reports.
The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League outfit Liverpool in the past after his fall out at Bayern Munich, but opted to join former club Borussia Dortmund instead.
Speaking on why his move to Anfield was thwarted, the forward finally revealed that his switch to England was not scuppered in any way.
He added that he has always been a keen admirer of Dortmund-now-turned Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and plans had been made to reunite with the Liverpool tactician.
But his decision to solely return to Dortmund should not be mistaken for a negative feeling towards Klopp or Liverpool.
“I decided to join Borussia Dortmund, but it was not a decision against Liverpool or Jurgen Klopp. But on the contrary.”
Now, the Germany international is currently eyed by a host of clubs across Europe, the likes of Everton, Marseille, Arsenal, West Ham, all chasing after his signature, per the Express.
His return to Dortmund was a far cry from the former classic performance he displayed during his first stint at the German outfit.
Gotze finished below expectations last season with just a tally of two goals and four assists in 23 appearances for Dortmund last term.
Despite having strong ties with the club, Dortmund are willing to cash in on him for a reported £22 million.
London-side Arsenal is believed to be interested in the forward, a suggestion that has raised eyebrows.
