AS Roma are on the verge of extending Wojciech Szczesny’s loan for another season, according to reports in Italy.
The Poland international has enjoyed his loan spell at Rome this season and is keen to stay at the Italian club next year. Roma are also keen on keeping the shot stopper for another season and it is believed the Italian club is closing in on an agreement with Arsenal.
According to Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via HITC Sports, Arsenal and Roma are close to an agreement which will see the goalkeeper move to Italy for another season.
Szczesny has never hidden his desire to remain at Roma and the shot stopper will be excited by recent developments, the goalkeeper confirmed during the just concluded season that he wants to play at Roma next year.
“I want to stay,” Szczesny told Il Messaggero.
“It’s not all up to me, obviously. I want it to happen, and I know Roma and Arsenal are talking about it, so we’ll see what happens.
“I’m happy to have helped the team and winning the title must be the next objective for this club.”
The goalkeeper joined Roma last summer following the arrival of Petr Cech and made 42 appearances for the Serie A club.
