Good news coming out of Portugal are suggesting Arsenal are on the verge of signing one of Arsene Wenger’s recent most admired forwards.
Arsenal transfer target Jackson Martinez is on the verge of signing for a new club with the details of the transfer set to be announced ‘within days’, according to his agent.
But while neither club has confirmed anything, the Porto striker’s agent says a club is set to pay his release clause and sign him in the coming days.
“There is a club that’s willing to pay €35m for the buy-out clause,” said Henrique Pompeo.
“The deal will be closed in the next few days.”
Luiz Henrique Pompeo in a recent interview also told O Jogo. “Jackson’s future is already pretty much decided,” representative
“Things should be clarified in the next few days. He’ll go to a big European club, which will be announced as soon as the contract is signed.
“From what’s been agreed, Porto will receive the €35m (£24m) from the release clause.
“Negotiations have been underway for a few weeks, there are still some details to be sorted out, and then Jackson Martinez’s departure from Porto can become a reality.”
There are a host of clubs vying for the signature of the Colombian.
In the Premier League, Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly the most interested clubs keen on acquiring the services of the deadly striker.
Arsenal are touted as favourites to sign the striker, with previous reports suggesting the Gunners have agreed terms with the player regarding a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
Close sources to the player say the 28-year-old is only willing to move to a club participating in the Champions League, ruling out a move to Anfield.
The player will come in as Arsenal’s first summer marque signing and will bring with him, the much needed fire-power to push the Gunners to a first ever Premier League title in over a decade.
