Arsenal have edged out Liverpool in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to reports.

According to German publication Bild via the Metro, The player is set to move to Arsenal for a fee worth £35.3m this summer.
Wenger reportedly met with the player’s representatives a few weeks ago and it is believed that the club are prepared to offer the midfielder a whooping £120,000 a week salary should he complete the move to the Emirates.
Xhaka has been impressive for Monchengladbach this summer and is now dubbed a top quality midfielder after series of superb performances for the Bundesliga side.
Wenger has reportedly promised Alexis Sanchez he will sign a quality midfielder, defender and striker this summer.
With the club close to completing a deal for Xhaka, Wenger can now turn his attention to strengthening other areas of the squad.
