Arsenal have been encouraged to make the business of this window a perfect 10 by completing a move for Napoli star midfielder, Marek Hamsik, according to the Express.
The Slovak star has remained at Napoli as captain even after the likes of Cavani and Lavezzi have moved on to greater clubs but it is believed that he and his agent, Mino Raiola are plotting a move for him to play in the Premier League in what the agent views as a move that will bring out his true class as a top player.
“Marek is a great person, an amazing human. He has a great personality and as a player he is very close to Pavel Nedved.” Raiola, who has stood down from his FIFA Presidential ambition, said.
“If he leaves Napoli, he would be able to play for any team in the world. If I had to recommend a player, it would be Hamsik.
“The problem is that [Napoli owner] Dino De Laurentiis does not want to sell him. I am convinced that Hamsik is not taking advantage of his full talents. He has the ability to be one of the best footballers in the world.”
Hamsik would probably be a difficult player to sign from Napoli as he is considered as one of the core chips in the block. Club President De Sanctis and Rafa Benitez would do all within possible limits to keep him, as well as other star players like Higuain. Both players are valued at a combined fee of about £65m but there’s no guarantee that a bid for either won’t see a demand of a fee as close to all of that.
There could be a motivation for him to move, though, if to play in the Champions league is what he desires. At 27, he won’t expect to have a better opportunity to get a regular run in the top games in Europe and Napoli do not look like they will be able to rebuild the kind of team they had under Walter Mazarri in 2011 and 2012.
Is it possible that Arsenal could sign him? He does not look a Wenger type of player and even if Nedved beat Henry to the Ballon D’Or in 2003, Henry has more places in most memories that the former Juve star. Still, it’s not impossible.
