Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, according to The Sun.
Lemar had been identified as Arsenal’s top target since the end of last season but a deal isn’t close to coming to fruition because of Monaco’s reluctance to sell.
The French club has already lost some of their players from their title winning squad and are determined not to lose Lemar.
They have already rejected a £30m bid from Arsenal, insisting he won’t be sold at any price but that hasn’t deterred Wenger who is determined to push for the winger.
In a bid to deter Arsenal, Monaco have placed an £80m price tag on the winger but the Gunners are hoping to reach a compromise with the French club.
However, Arsenal have its work cut out for, because Lemar is apparently not ready to force a move despite being happy with our interest but Wenger is hoping the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette will convince him to demand a move to the Emirates.
It appears convincing Lemar won’t be a problem with the Sun’s claim that we have agreed personal terms with the winger.
It is claimed that the winger has verbally agreed a long-term contract worth £90,000 per week and Arsenal will now have to agree a fee with Monaco.
Whether Arsenal will be able to reach a compromise with Monaco or not remains to be seen. It is unlikely Wenger will break the club record deal twice this summer to sign Lemar.
