Arsene Wenger could complete the signing of Riyad Mahrez in the next few weeks, according to The Express.
Mahrez revealed in May that he wants to leave Leicester City for a big club this summer and was immediately linked with a host of big clubs within and outside England.
Arsenal were one of the clubs immediately linked with the Algerian and Wenger who is a big admirer of the winger fuelled those speculations in early June when he declared his admiration for the player again.
Reports then claimed the winger would prefer a move to Arsenal over Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool, all of whom were said to be interested in his services, although it was said that his first choice was Barcelona.
But Spanish publication Sport are now claiming Mahrez is set to join Arsenal after getting tired of waiting for Barcelona to make their move.
Despite leaving Leicester City because he wants to play Champions League football, Mahrez is willing to complete a move to The Emirates despite Arsenal not in next season’s UCL.
The report claims Arsenal have already offered the 26 year old a four year contract which he is close to agreeing.
A €40m transfer fee is expected to snap him up from Leicester and all that is needed is for Arsenal to approach Leicester. Mahrez is expected to come in to strengthen our right wing as Wenger attempts to build a strong squad ahead of next season.
