Liverpool and Arsenal have been installed as the bookies favorites to sign Julian Draxler.
Draxler’s future at PSG has been thrown into doubt by the arrival of Neymar at the Parc des Princes.
Despite the French club insisting the Brazilian’s arrival will not force them to sell any of their attackers, report claims they will have to sell some players in order to comply with the financial fair play rules and Draxler is one of those considered disposable.
Following that report, Arsenal have been installed as one of the favorites for the winger’s signature.
Bookmakers, Betstars have placed Arsenal behind Liverpool at 9/2, with the Reds favorites at 11/8 and then there is Barcelona at third with an odd of 8/1.
Betstars director of trading Ian Marmion gave a detailed explanation on the Daily Star.
“Liverpool have emerged as the clear 11/8 favourites to sign PSG’s Julian Draxler, after being told he is no longer needed at the Parc des Princes,” he is quoted as saying.
“The World Cup winner only joined the Paris side in January but since the arrival of Brazilian star Neymar, Draxler has become surplus to requirements.
“The German international will be the creative influence that Liverpool need should they sell Coutinho to Barcelona.
“ Arsenal are second in the running for Draxler and are priced at 9/2 to sign the skilful midfielder, with Barcelona making up the betting at 8/1.”
Draxler only joined PSG in January and made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals. He is regarded as one of the best players in his generation and has been on Arsenal’s radar for quite sometime.
With Wenger in search of a new winger, Draxler would be a viable option but it remains to be seen if the boss will renew his interest before the transfer window closes.
